The T.Apple servers run on the Linux Operating System, a free Unix clone that operates on many different kinds of hardware. Specifically, we are running the RedHat 4.1 distribution of Linux which includes version 2.0.27 of the Linux kernel.

This distribution has a few restrictions as to how accounts can be set up:

  1. Account names must be 8 or less characters,
  2. Passwords must be more than 6 characters long and...
  3. Passwords must contain both upper and lower case letters and...
  4. Passwords must contain a number or punctuation mark.

The system administrators will monitor disk usage and will contact you if your account seems to be using an unreasonable amount of disk space.
