Forwarding Your T.Apple Email
- Open SimpleText or TeachText on your computer.
- Type in the full email address where you would like
your mail to be sent on the first line of SimpleText.
(i.e. czody@mail.desoto-trail.leon.k12.fl.us)
- Save the file to your desktop and name it '.forward'
(do not use the quotation marks in the name, but do make
sure that it starts with a period).
- Open Fetch and if necessary, go to the 'File' menu
and select 'New Connection...'
- In the 'Host' box type tapple.org
In the 'User ID' box type your account name
In the 'Password' box type your password
Make sure that the 'Directory' box is empty.
- Click on OK to connect. A window should appear with
your account name at the top and some files listed.
- Click on the 'Put File' button and, using the dialog
box, move to the Desktop and select your '.forward' file.
Upload it using the text format. You should see your
'.forward' file now listed with the other files in the
window.
- Quit Fetch and delete the '.forward' file on your
desktop. It is important to both move the '.forward' file
to the trash and then empty the trash before you restart
your computer. Macintoshes are very picky about having
files that start with periods and these files should be
removed as soon as possible.
If your mail doesn't seem to be going where you want it,
check all the steps above before emailing:
bob@tapple.org
A few common problems are:
- You didn't name the file '.forward' with a period at
the front and all lowercase letters.
- You typed the address you want your mail sent to
incorrectly. Try using Eudora to send mail to the new
address directly to make sure that that address does
indeed deliver mail to you.
