of the T.Apple Business Meeting
April 12, 2001

The meeting was called to order by Vice President Bob Yates at 7:00 pm.

President Gary Kissinger was not able to come tonight so there’s no set agenda.

The secretary, Linnie Osborn, asked if there were any corrections to minutes of the last business meeting which were sent to members on the list serve. A motion was made and seconded to pass them and after a voice vote they were adopted as written online. A hard copy was placed by the board that holds the name tags for members to look over if they so desired.

Under old business, Gene Williams explained that you can use your Comp USA discount card or your current meeting-reminder post card to get discounts on purchases as a benefit of your T-Apple membership. Newly signed up members can get a note from Chris to verify their membership until they receive their first post card.

It was reported that the new CD/RW USB compatable burner has arrived and is in Dave Fountain’s care along with our other CD burner. He will be signing these out to members for two week periods. If you would like to use one, give Dave your name and how to locate you and he’ll put you in the rotation. His number at home is 894-5311 and at work is 414-7421.

Gene’s Nitty Gritty was called Units of Confusion and went over the basic principles of ROM and RAM and ways to maximize your computer’s capabilities in accessing memory.

Bob’s ten minutes were devoted to an explanation of the relationship of the hard drive, RAM and the cache as they relate to the computer’s use of memory.

It was announced that the topic for the April 24th modem meeting will be uploading and downloading from the T-Apple Hotline

The meeting was adjourned.

We had as a guest speaker Thais Wilson from Computer Tutors and a T-Apple member herself. She went over some of the features of the Office 2001 software.

Respectfully submitted,
Linnie Osborn, Secretary
