of the T.Apple Business Meeting
July 12, 2001

The meeting was called to order by Vice President Charles Yates at 7:05 pm.

New members and visitors were recognized and welcomed.

It was announced that the program will begin at 8:00 and will be on OS X.

Due to the lack of any t-apple group business being discussed at the June 14 meeting, there were no notes to be read and approved. The program at that meeting was a continuation of the May 10th web design workshop conducted by Mona Lisa Abbott

The possibility was discussed of not being able to meet at Hartsfield in the future if they replace the school's Apple computers with PC's. Members were asked to be on the lookout for an alternative meeting place. The new place will need:

  • to be easily accessible
  • to be safe
  • to have Macs, and a projector
  • it does not necessarily have to be centrally located, as some past places haven't been

Any suggestions you may have should be emailed to Bob. Some locations that might warrant investigation were mentioned. Among them were TCC, FSU, FAMU, and Raa Middle School by Northwood Center. We were reminded once again, locations we should be looked into need to appear in writing as an e-mail sent to Bob O'Lary.

Bob's 5 - 10 minute topic for tonight familiarized us with something called Level 2 Tech Support for Mac's that is in use at FSU. The high end Mac Tech people on campus have this. Bob found out it's a home study course on disks that teaches people to become Mac technicians and repair people. The initial investment is a bundle of software that costs $2500.

Gene informed us about a recall that Apple put out the previous week for adaptors being used on certain Power Books. He has the details for folks who are interested in checking their systems.

The business meeting was adjourned at 7:55.

The program that Marc Weininger had prepared on OS X had to be put on hold for a later date as he encountered problems with running the OS X on his power book. Instead he led us through a demonstration of OS 9.1, as well as offering some tips on effectively organizing and locating files . His preference is to subdivide the hard disk into partitions. He also stores documents on a different partition than the ones where he stores his applications

Respectfully submitted,
Linnie Osborn, Secretary
